Gerald Saldo has worked for over 40 years as a Cameraman of Moving Pictures. Now, he's back to his first love, Still Photography. Gerald uses a play on words borrowed from the 19th Century Masters to describe this series of photos - “Pixelism.”

All of these works came directly out of the camera.

In the images presented here, no filtering, no cropping and no compositing were used. Gerald refers to them as “Digital Originals.”

Sharpness and focus rarely come into play.

It’s all about color, shape and form.

In order to achieve the Compressed Watercolor Feel in his work, Gerald utilizes Low Resolution together with High Digital Zoom.

This helps to smear the colors.

Many of these images were captured from distances up to three miles away.  At times, Gerald uses binoculars to hunt for a shot; the compositions are too distant to see with the naked eye.

Once Gerald finds an image, he lines up the camera using a fluid head tripod. “With a fluid head, I am able to move smoothly, constantly composing, rapidly releasing the shutter, feeling the passion, hoping for that magic moment when I know I have captured humanity."
